This privacy statement describes how Diarium (hereinafter referred to as "Application") collects and uses personal information.
The Application uses Firebase & Mixpanel to help us understand app usage, diagnose bugs, and improve stability. When you download and use the Application, certain information may be collected, including:
This data helps us enhance the Application’s performance and user experience.
To provide core functionality, the Application processes location data. For example:
These services are used strictly to support app features—not for analytics or tracking. Location data is only sent when needed to perform these tasks and is not stored or associated with individual users.
Only anonymized data is transmitted to external services for analytics or error reporting. This data does not contain personally identifiable information and cannot be used to identify individual users.
The Application uses third-party services that handle data according to their own privacy policies. Please refer to their respective policies for details:
By default, the journal database is stored locally on your device only. You are able synchronize your Diarium data across devices using the Diarium Cloud Sync feature. When using this feature, your Diarium database is uploaded to your personal Cloud Storage (e.g. OneDrive or Google Drive). The data transfer is done using the official APIs of the respective Cloud services. We do not have access to your Cloud Storage or your database. Please note that the third-party Cloud services that are being used for the Diarium Cloud Sync have their own Privacy Policy about handling data.
You can connect to other services in the "Feeds & Events" section to enrich your journal with data. Access is optional and starts only after you authorize the selected service. Diarium uses official APIs over encrypted HTTPS connections, stores OAuth credentials in the device's secure storage, and does not publish data on your behalf. Connected feed data is used only to display matching information in your private journal entries and is not sold, used for advertising, or shared with analytics services. You can disconnect a feed in the app or revoke Diarium's access in the connected service, which removes the stored credentials and stops further access. For any remaining deletion request related to connected feed data, contact us and we will confirm when deletion is complete.
When Diarium accesses Google user data through Google APIs, access is optional and starts only after you authorize it through Google's OAuth consent flow. Diarium uses Google's official APIs over encrypted HTTPS connections, requests only the scopes needed for the selected app features, and stores OAuth credentials in the device's secure storage.
Google user data is used only to provide the Diarium feature you selected. It is not sold, used for advertising, or shared with analytics or other third-party services. You can disconnect the related integration in the app or revoke Diarium's access in your Google Account.
When you connect Google Health or Strava in the "Feeds & Events" settings, Diarium requests read-only access to selected activity data, such as steps, calories, distance, weight, resting heart rate, sleep sessions, workouts, routes, and activity photos where available. Diarium treats this as sensitive personal data and uses it only for the selected journal feature. Strava may monitor and collect API usage data and use it for its business purposes as described in Strava's API terms.
By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us. You can stop all collection of information by the Application by uninstalling it.
The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will immediately delete this from their servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that they will be able to take the necessary actions.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. We will notify you of any changes to the Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
The Application only collects anonymized data, but if you have shared personal information with us, such as emails or messages, you can request its deletion. To do so, please email us at hello@timopartl.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request."
